Interlocking Justice is rooted in this belief: It doesnโt just matter that we go about the work of justice. It matters how we go about that work. What we do and how we do it is meant to be good medicine. An offering to one another in our journey toward mutual liberation. We are connected. Our work is connected.
Answers the question: โWhat would it look like to approach justice in a way that:
- does not recreate toxic models
- prioritizes healing and wholeness
- and values the connected nature between all parts of ourselves, between individuals, between communities, and across movements
Seeks to merge the various effective and necessary approaches to justice work (e.g. intersectionality, healing justice, emergent strategy…) โapproaches that have met very real needs in one area but don’t adequately address or ignore other components and, as a result, create the opportunity for the fracturing of individuals, relationships, and entire movements.

WHAT WILL WE LEARN?
The Interlocking Justice institute will be a collaborative learning experience where participants will engage in formal learnings and conversations specific to interlocking justice. Topics will include the history of interlocking justice and relevant frameworks; a deep-dive into the 5 core practices of interlocking justice; and training in the personal and collective application of interlocking justice.
Unlike the typical online experience, the institute provides live, real-time facilitation and one-on-one engagement that supports each individualโs learning journey. Participants will be required to attend 75% of the sessions (miss no more than 2 sessions) and complete assignments (up to an hour per class).

Interlocking Justice is a methodology intended to serve those actively working in justice movement spaces and/or those with a stated commitment to approaching their life and work in an anti-oppressive and liberative way. This course is for those that are new to interlocking justice and are interested in doing a deep dive into the 5 practices. Those in leadership positions (businesses, non-profits, faith communities, community collectives, higher education) are strongly encouraged to participate.
If you have an accommodation need (for example, if you have a hearing impairment and an assigned video does not have captions), please inform the instructor as soon as possible. All sessions will be captioned, In English, and we are working to make the cohort more accessible overall, but as we make these improvements, we want to address immediate concerns as swiftly and effectively as possible.
